“Imagining and Interpreting
the French Republic: A Celebration
In Honor of Philip G. Nord”

May 13-14, 2022 | Princeton University

This conference celebrates the career of Philip G. Nord, Rosengarten Professor of Modern and Contemporary History, Emeritus, at Princeton University, by bringing together his former and current students, colleagues, and friends.  This conference is meant to honor Phil’s immense influence on the field of modern French history, particularly as it relates to the trials and tribulations of democratic institutions in France.  Likewise, the participants wish to highlight and honor Phil’s role as an advisor, since his generous and gentle advising has left a profound mark on those lucky enough to study with him.
